Frankie Dettori will ride his final races on Sunday, February 1, at Gavea Race Course in Brazil.
He announced his plans to conclude riding with a tour of tracks in South America at the 2025 Breeders’ Cup.

What happened?

Dettori won at San Isidro in Argentina in December and at Maronas in Uruguay earlier this month.
He was expected to compete in the G1 Chilean Derby in March but will no longer make the trip.

Why it matters for Frankie Dettori

The 55-year-old Italian jockey is expected to have mounts in the G1 Grande Premio Estado do Rio de Janeiro and the G1 Grande Premio Henrique Possolo.
Dettori will ride in both G1 events and two other races, although final entries have not yet been taken.

What comes next?

Following the races in Brazil, Dettori will begin a new role as a global racing ambassador for Amo Racing.
He originally announced plans to retire in 2022, then decided to continue his career in the U.S.

Dettori has won 25 graded stakes, including the 2025 Met Mile and 2024 Malibu on Raging Torrent.
The race card was moved up one week to accommodate Dettori’s appearance.

Dettori concluded his North American stint at this year's Breeders' Cup.
He had been based in the U.S. for the last two years.

The Italian jockey will end his riding career on a high note, competing in Brazil.
Dettori's final races will be on Sunday, February 1.
